Introduction to spatial analysis and geostatistics for supporting precision agriculture (7h) Prof. G. Baroni N.B. This course is only for PhD candidates from the CV in "Water-Food-Energy-Sustainable Agriculture Nexus" Brief content description: Spatial observations are commonly collected and used for studying agro-environmental systems and understanding their behaviors. However, they are characterized by specific resolutions and they are often limited in space and time. For these reasons, well defined experimental designs and interpretation of the data are crucial steps for a correct analysis and assessment. The present course will provide an introduction to spatial analysis and geostatistics as tools to support these purposes. In specific, the course will present and discuss the analysis of geo-spatial data and different interpolation methods. The course will conclude with a discussion on sampling designs. The course is thought in 7 hours covering front lectures and hands-on script in RStudio environment. The course is enriched with the discussion of specific agro-environmental case studies in the field of precision agriculture. |

And many more! The course is aimed at introducing the PhD students to the main functions and potentials of Geographic Information Systems in the agricultural, agri-environmental and food sciences fields. After a short introduction, the course will focus on hands-on activities on the GIS software.
