From October 17th to 19th, "Doors of CHANGE" takes place: Ravenna also explores the future of cultural heritage.
Over 60 cultural and scientific venues across Italy are opening their doors to innovation with "Doors of CHANGE – Through Heritage, Opening to the Future," a major event promoted by the CHANGES Foundation as part of the PNRR CHANGES – Cultural Heritage Active Innovation for Next-Gen Sustainable Society project.
Over three days, more than 70 live initiatives and 30 digital experiences will alternate, including visits, workshops, performances, and immersive reconstructions, with the aim of bringing citizens closer to heritage through participatory and innovative methods. Ravenna will also be featured, with a rich program curated by the Department of Cultural Heritage in collaboration and participation with the Ravenna Campus of the University of Bologna, which intertwines research, history, and new technologies.
The program opens on the afternoon of Friday, October 17, with an event presenting the objectives and research results of the PNRR CHANGES project by the University of Bologna groups active on the Ravenna Campus. This will be followed by Hidden Perspectives: the Arian Baptistery, an afternoon combining research and performance, including digital guided tours of the "SIRIUS-Strategies for the Management of Cultural Heritage at Risk" and "Literary Parks" projects, scientific presentations of research projects, and a performance by the Teatro delle Albe based on Christ Stopped at Eboli. The evening will conclude with a video mapping of the Arian Baptistery, created in collaboration with Antropotopia. Also on Friday, the temporary exhibition of the Canneti-Fiacchi correspondence will open at the Classense Library, featuring 18th-century letters, multimedia installations, and a workshop dedicated to their digital edition.
On Saturday, October 18th, at 10:30 a.m., the public will be invited to participate in Urban Trekking – Monuments at Risk, a route through the city's iconic sites to reflect on the natural and man-made risks threatening its heritage, encouraging a more aware and active citizenry. On Sunday, October 19th, at 4:30 p.m., it will be the turn of The Shape of Water, a treasure hunt exploring archaeology and the urban landscape that will lead participants to lesser-known monuments and sites around the city to discover Ravenna's age-old connection with water.
With Doors of CHANGE, Ravenna confirms its vocation as a laboratory city, where scientific research, cultural heritage, and citizen participation meet to generate new forms of knowledge and shared enjoyment.
