A programme open to the world, building skills and research networks at international level.
At the core of the PhD Programme in Political and Social Sciences is a broad range of international opportunities. Going abroad for a short or extended period guarantees PhD students enrolled on the programme a crucial formative experience.
All PhD students are required to spend at least six months abroad at a foreign academic institution to conduct empirical research and network with different academic environments. Specific funding and guidance is provided to support their stay. Furthermore, to enhance their disciplinary, methodological and transversal skills, the PhD programme also supports participation in international conferences, as well as summer and winter schools.
Each year, the PhD programme offers a double degree opportunity in collaboration with Radboud University in Nijmegen (Netherlands), awarded through a dedicated annual grant.
PhD candidates benefit from the University of Bologna’s active involvement in international academic networks, including The Europaeum and Una Europa, which offer access to mobility programmes, funding opportunities, and collaborative research initiatives across leading European universities.
