Associate Professor of Aesthetics at the University of Bologna. His research has mostly dealt with contemporary philosophy, with a particular focus on the philosophical traditions of phenomenology, hermeneutics and critical theory, and also on certain aspects of the philosophical debate in the traditions of analytic philosophy and pragmatism. From the point of view of the main domains or thematic fields of philosophy he has mostly worked on aesthetics, ethics, philosophy of music (especially rock and jazz), philosophical and sociological approaches to fashion and in general to popular culture, and recently also on some problems within contemporary philosophical-political debates. Among the philosophers that he has mostly referred to and worked on, one can mention such classical authors of modern philosophy as Kant, Hegel and Nietzsche, such leading thinkers of the 20th century as Heidegger, Gadamer, Arendt, Adorno, Horkheimer, Benjamin, Marcuse and Rorty, and such outstanding and influential thinkers of our time as John McDowell, Richard Shusterman, Carolyn Korsmeyer and Angela Davis.
