Selected events that may be of interest to SEHM2 students

SEHM2 at SAIE 2018 (October 19 & 20)

The “Structural and Environmental Health Monitoring and Management" (SEHM2) group is hosted by Federcostruzioni at SAIE 2018, 19-20 October at Bologna Fair District (building 25 - stand B47) as a center of excellence for research and innovation in the field of smart buldings.
SEHM2 participates to SAIE 2018 with a live demonstrator showing the Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) paradigm.
In particular, the demonstrator integrates an innovative low weight sensor network with advanced structural models and exploits an intuitive graphical interface to support applications for real-time data analysis and long-term maintenance strategies of heterogeneous structures.
The network core component is a stamp size, 40 mA, 5 grams node-sensor with multi-sensing (acceleration, strain, temperature, etc) and local processing capabilities.
Sensor data are processed by dedicated algorithms embedded on the node-sensor, or on a remote station, with the purpose of detecting structural anomalies and localizing faults. Thanks to its user-friendly graphical interface the system will support technicians and control staff to assess the structural integrity of the monitored structures. In addition, processing long term monitoring data provides a mean to estimate the remaining life of structural components.

University students may have free access to SAIE by filling in the online form:

seminar: Innovation in Big Companies (June 28, 2018)

Dr. Benedetto Vigna, STMicroelectronics’ President of AMS Group (Analog, MEMS and Sensors), will deliver the seminar about "Innovation in Big Companies" at the School of Engineering and Architecture in Bologna (Viale del Risorgimento 2, Aula Magna,)on Thursday June 28th (11:00 - 13:00).

NiPS Summer School 2018: Powering the Internet of Things

This Summer School is organized by the Noise in Physical Systems Laboratory (NiPS) of the University of Perugia, within the framework of the H2020 project EnABLES and it will take place in Perugia on July 17-20.
The school should be considered by all students interested to modern approaches to energy-autonomous sensing in the large.
Further information, included program and registration form, is available on the school official website.
