Forms & Practical Info

Here, useful forms can be downloaded and useful information found.

"10% BUDGET": The so-called “10% BUDGET” is a dedicated fund that is available to each PhD student. This fund is denoted as “10% BUDGET” because it corresponds to the 10% of the total PhD grant. This fund can be used by the PhD student for covering the expenses related to attending conferences, training school, short period abroad, etc., but also for buying consumables (e.g. chemicals) for his/her research activity. In practice, how fund management is organized depends on the specific department the PhD student is affiliated with. Therefore, any inquiries should be directed to the department administration.
Note. The “10% BUDGET” is not available for PhD students funded by their own foreign country (for example, CSC China Scholarship Council PhD students) and beneficiaries of funding provided under international mobility programs (for example, MSCA Doctoral Networks).

Short travels (Missioni)

Please, remember that for short work travels (Italy and abroad) the authorization of the coordinator is no longer needed. Please, refer to the ‘mission office’ of your department.

Authorization for period abroad (Autorizzazione periodi all’estero)

The form to ask for the authorization to spend a period abroad can be downloaded in this page (see below). Once filled in, please, submit it to the coordinator together with the invitation letter of the host institution.

Yearly Report (Passaggio d’anno)

Each year, in September, PhD students will be requested to submit a yearly report. The template can be downloaded in this page (see below). The report should be approximately two-pages long. Only for PhD students to be admitted to the final exam, the report should cover the research activity and accomplishments of the entire PhD period (4 pages).

The report should be then uploaded to https://dottorandi.unibo.it/ within the deadline that will be communicated by the vice-coordinator via email at the beginning of September.

To be admitted to the following year of the PhD course, a colloquium is also required. Concerning it, it will take place before the end of October according to a schedule that will be communicated in due time (you will be contacted at the end of September by the commissions for further information). The colloquium is based on a presentation of your activities of ca. 15 minutes and, if required, may be performed remotely.

Admission to the final exam (Ammissione all’esame finale)

- PhD tutors will be contacted in order to provide a written evaluation of the PhD candidate and to indicate reviewers for PhD thesis (2+2).

- PhD candidates will be contacted by the administrative office to request for the admission to the final exam.
