ABSTRACT
The course focuses on the fundamentals, advanced aspects, and design of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cable systems, a key enabler for the “Energy Transition”. The course considers cable lines, insulation materials, and accessories, as well as cable performance, life span and reliability issues. The course will discuss space charge-related problems, which have a critical impact on extruded insulation for HVDC application, and the recent advances in extruded compounds for HVDC cables such as additives and nano-fillers.
This course is part of the IBES training activities for the a.y. 2025/2026.
