A Physical Perspective on Imaging for Medical Applications

Learning outcomes: The course focuses on the physical basis of the principal medical imaging techniques: X-ray, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Nuclear medicine (PET, SPECT) and Ultrasounds. At the end of the course the student will be able to characterize medical imaging acquisition systems and understand the advantages and disadvantages of the imaging techniques. An introduction to the most common frameworks for medical imaging processing is provided in the last part of the course.
