Typology of Sources and Forms of Communication in the History of Physics

Learning outcomes

  •  Identify the different topology of historical sources in the history of physics, distinguishing the major differences in language, audience, time in which they were written recognizing when and if they are incomplete for a full understanding
  • connecting published and unpublished written sources (such as treatise or written notes) with material artifacts (such as instruments, apparatuses) in order to reconstruct historical experiments
  • Comparing historical sources with modern textbooks, recognizing the process of knowledge restructuring   
  • Making a proposal and a didactic design for using historical sources in current teaching, discussing the potential and problematic aspects of this choice
