Highlights in Nuclear Physics

Lecturer: Francesca Bellini (Unibo)

Duration: 12 hours

Learning outcomes: The student will acquire knowledge on specific aspects of nuclear physics at accelerators.  Building on the discussion of the physical and experimental principles of relevance, selected measurements related to QCD phenomenology and physics with nuclear beams will be presented focusing on state-of-the-art research and main directions in the field.

Exam: The exam consists of an oral interview that includes a presentation (with slides, max 10') and critical discussion of a prominent research article selected from a provided list of papers, followed by questions on related topics covered in the course. The students are evaluated based on the ability to identify the article’s main focus, its novel contributions or advancements beyond the state of the art, its impact on the field, and its contextualization within the topics covered in the course.
