Signal Acquisition and Processing for Physicists

Lecturer: Luca Pasquini (Unibo)

Duration: 12 hours

Dates: 2, 6, 9, 13, 16, 20 February 2024 from 11:00 to 13:00 in Sala Riunioni “Biomedica” 2nd floor Berti Pichat

Learning outcomes: In this course the students learn the fundamental principles of the instrumentation for the acquisition and generation of analog signals, including analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, amplifiers, function generators, field-programmable gate arrays. Furthermore, they gain a basic knowledge of important signal processing techniques such as FFT and digital filtering. Thanks to laboratory sessions, the students are able to design and program a measurement chain for signal acquisition and generation, and can implement the control of a physical process by means of feedback loop techniques.
