Duration: 12 hours in March
Programme: The course will be focused on state-of-the-art silicon detector techniques. In particular, the course content will involve
- Introduction to basic silicon detector concepts (wtith simulated results)
- Challenges of silicon detectors which aim at cutting edge spatial or timing resolutions
- Problematics of a precise tracking reconstruction, in particular of primary or secondary vertices, and of a precise determination of the time of arrival of a particle
- Difficulties behind photon detections with silicon detectors
- Recent silicon detector technologies: monolithic silicon detectors, like CMOS MAPS, and silicon detectors with gain, like SiPM or UFSD (LGAD)
- Future applications in the field of particle physics
