International and cross-sector cooperation initiatives for the sustainable management of water and marine resources in sub-Saharan Africa. Through the involvement of institutions, universities, local communities, NGOs, and private sector actors, projects in Mozambique and Senegal promote the environmental, social, and economic development of coastal areas, strengthening resilience to climate change and food security.

The one-day event aims to illustrate and empower young researchers regarding the value of research and scientific-technological knowledge as an essential component of the sustainable social development of coastal communities in third countries, and the fundamental role of university and research institution staff and expertise in implementing the collaborative, cross-border "quintuple helix" approach to the governance of social innovation.
