The course introduces the themes and specific nature of cultural heritage from the perspective of the digital transition and its impact on systems of knowledge representation and communication. Following a series of lectures on the general foundations of digital heritage, the course systematically addresses specific aspects of how digital culture is transforming museum communication: the web, the digitization of heritage, and 3D modeling and printing techniques. These lectures provide a comprehensive overview of several essential tools for digital replication and reconstruction: photogrammetry, structured light scanning, and 3D modeling using the open-source software “Blender.”

The course is organized into 4 weeks, each focusing on a different theme related to digital heritage:

  • Week 3 – The Digitization of Cultural Heritage
  • Week 4 – 3D Modeling and Printing
