The short course will first recall basic concepts of probability theory.
Next, reliability and hazard rate for a single item will be defined, and their mutual relations explained.
Rules to combine single-item reliabilities to derive the reliability of complex systems (series, parallel, partially redundant and bridge) will be presented along with examples.
The use of the Weibull distribution and the statistical estimation of Weibull scale and shape parameters will be discussed.
