ABSTRACT

This course will focus on recent advances in the design of decomposition and reformulation techniques for combinatorial optimization problems. These methods are particularly useful for solving problems whose mathematical formulation includes an exponential number of variables and constraints, which makes their explicit definition not possible (or extremely challenging) in practice. Different solution approaches will be introduced, analyzing their theoretical properties and computational performances, and some examples taken from the scientific literature will be presented.
