Decomposition and reformulation methods in optimization

The course will be held by dott. Paolo Paronuzzi and is part of the training provided for IBES PhD Students (a.y.2023/2024) within the Automatic Control and Operational Research (ARO) curriculum.

  • Date:

    03 APRIL
    17 APRIL 2024
     from 9:30 to 12:30
  • Event location: Aula Trasporti - via Risorgimento - Bologna

  • Type: IBES Course

This course will focus on recent advances in the design of decomposition and reformulation techniques for combinatorial optimization problems. These methods are particularly useful for solving problems whose mathematical formulation includes an exponential number of variables and constraints, which makes their explicit definition not possible (or extremely challenging) in practice. Different solution approaches will be introduced, analyzing their theoretical properties and computational performances, and some examples taken from the scientific literature will be presented.

  • 3rd April, 9:30am-12:30pm
  • 10th April, 9am-12:30pm
  • 17th April, 9am-12:30pm

This course is part of the training provided for IBES PhD Students in the academic year 2023/2024.
