Interpretation of BOLD fMRI signals

The seminar is held by Antonio Ferretti, Professor at the University of Chieti.

  • Date: 12 JANUARY 2022  from 11:30 to 13:00

  • Event location: Online event

  • Type: Seminar

ABSTRACT

The seminar will discuss the limits and strength of BOLD fMRI. In particular, the spatial specificity and the temporal dynamics of the BOLD response will be illustrated, together with intrinsic limitations regarding the quantitative assessment of neuronal activity.

BIO

Antonio Ferretti is Professor of Biomedical Engineering  at the “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy. He works in the field of functional magnetic resonance imaging since 1999. His research activity has been mainly focused on functional and structural magnetic resonance images processing techniques, experimental design, statistical methods, multimodal integration (integration of magnetoencephalography and functional magnetic resonance imaging, simultaneous acquisition of electroencephalographic and functional magnetic resonance data). His present interests involve quantitative fMRI using arterial spin labeling, the study of the BOLD signal in spin-echo and gradient echo EPI measurements and fast fMRI techniques for the study of brain functional connectivity and pulsatility.
