The study day aims to introduce participants to the topics of European project planning through the presentation of a real-world case study: the project ERC WRITE - “New Forms of Calligraphy in China: A Contemporary Culture Mirror.”

Adriana Iezzi is Full Professor of Chinese Language and Culture at the Department of Interpreting and Translation (DIT). She is the Principal Investigator of the ERC project “WRITE – New Forms of Calligraphy in China: A Contemporary Culture Mirror” and of the “WenDAng – WRITE Digital Archive” project. Her research focuses on contemporary Chinese calligraphy, with particular attention to the analysis of major artistic expressions that diverge from traditional calligraphic forms. The main objective of her research is to develop a model for the qualitative analysis of these new artistic expressions by proposing a new taxonomy of contemporary calligraphic production, alongside a systematic study of the related texts and an investigation of the socio-political and economic implications associated with their emergence.

Katarina Lučić is a PhD candidate in Digital Humanities at the Department of Interpreting and Translation (DIT), where she conducts her research within the “WenDAng – WRITE Digital Archive” project. Her work focuses on the design and development of the WenDAng digital infrastructure, with particular attention to ontological modelling, the semantic organisation of data, and its publication and visualisation on the web.
