The teaching offer is valid for all PhD cycles and is based on the awarding of Doctoral Credits (DC), which are mandatory for PhD students in cycles 40 and 41. These credits are structured according to the criteria described below and shown in the credit table (see the “Highlights” section).
They measure the workload required of doctoral students in research, training, and teaching activities in order to obtain their degree. Each DC is worth 25 hours of work, and doctoral students must earn 60 DC per year (for a total of 180 DC between training, teaching, and research over the three-year period). The program has divided the total number of credits between research, training, and teaching activities, ensuring that research accounts for 78% of the total. The program has established the minimum number of credits to be earned for each of the following activities:
As can be seen from the Doctoral Credits table in the “Highlights” section, 40 DCs must be earned during the three-year period, equivalent to 22% of the total activities. PhD students, in agreement with their supervisors and co-supervisors, can flexibly define their specific training and research paths, choosing the activities to be carried out, by type and quantity, in compliance with the constraints established by the Board for each activity and year of the course. The acquisition of credits is verified at the end of each year. The credit table also shows an example of the distribution of credits over the three-year period.
