PhD Program

The PhD FRONTIERS is associated with the Alma Mater Research Institute on Global Challenges and Climate Change - Alma Climate, which is a new Interdepartmental Center coordinating research between 20 Departments of the University of Bologna.

Overall organisation

The PhD is a three-year program combining advanced training and original research. Admission is through a competitive exam, and selected candidates receive a scholarship to support living expenses. Students attend specialised courses, workshops, conferences, and PhD schools. Under the supervision of a personal advisor, they develop the skills needed to conduct high-level scientific investigations leading to their doctoral thesis. The program concludes with a final PhD thesis defence.

Scholarships Grant Amount

Fellowships amount to approximately 1.270,00 €/month. Students will also have a dedicated budget for participating in conferences, exchange programs and for visits to laboratories outside Italy during the three years of the PhD.

Students will be inserted in the supervisor group, and additional resources may be made available for travel and visits, if needed. Possibility of further funding at the following links:
