The PhD students have access to two rooms with a total of 30 workstations equipped with computers and printers. They also have access to 4 computing labs in the department (with 16 workstations each), where research projects involving computational components can be developed. Additionally, they can make use of the computing resources of CINECA, with which the department has an agreement.
The Department of Mathematics is affiliated with the interdepartmental library of Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy, and Computer Science (http://bimfai.sba.unibo.it/), whose mathematic section holds over 43,000 volumes. The library subscribes to more than 500 mathematical journals, covering all areas of pure and applied mathematics. In particular, PhD students can also remotely access the library's electronic resources, connecting from outside the department from any workstation.
The department's library provides students with access to the main databases for mathematics:
MathSciNet: Bibliographic information database created and maintained by AMS
Jahrbuch Project: Publications from the period 1868-1942
Other discipline-specific databases include:
Web of Science (WOS)
Web of Knowledge (WOK)
Scopus
Proquest Computing
CiteSeer Scientific Literature Digital Library
Each doctoral student receives 10% of their scholarship for each of the three years (equal to €1,624.30/year up to cycle 41, and €1,698.26/year from cycle 42) for purchases and travel. Unused funds during an academic year remain available in subsequent years, until the thesis defense.
