A.Y. 2017-2018 

 

SEPTEMBER 2017

  • 15 September 2017: Updating of personal page and entry of publications on IRIS (NB please note that failure to complete the web page and IRIS will jeopardise for the passage of year);
  • 15 September 2017: Delivery of a written progress report to both Tutor and Coordinator Presentation of the annual research progress report for the passage of year: 
  1. Dissertation Index;
  2. Summary of the research - in Italian or English - minimum 80,000 characters in length including notes and references; 
  3. Abstract - in Italian and English - of 5,000 characters in length.

 

OCTOBER 2017

  • 05 October 2017: Presentation of the annual research progress report for the passage of year (the presentation takes the form of a 30-minute lecture, in Italian or English, before the Teaching Body and all PhD students, with external guests); 
  • 06 October 2017 (final deadline): The Teaching Body approves the passage of year (enclosing the Ttutor's evaluation and, if necessary, that of other internal or external evaluators).

 

NOVEMBER 2017

  • 1 November 2017: Delivery to both Tutor and Coordinator of a written 2017-18 study plan: 
  1. Provisional title of the dissertation accompanied by an abstract (5,000 characters) in Italian and English and an index in Italian and English; 
  2. Tutors, possible co-tutors, formalised co-tutorships with foreign universities;
  3. Summary description and timetable of the research activities intended to be undertaken during the year for the development of the dissertation, with an indication of the expected results; 
  4. Programme of research stays abroad with an indication of the forms of funding to be used (30% increase in the scholarship with University funds; Marco Polo; etc.); 
  5. Research dissemination programme (at least 1 planned publication - programme can be updated during the year) with details of any publication fees or missions to be reimbursed from PhD funds (at the beginning of the year the Teaching Body will set criteria and available budget quotas for such reimbursements). 

 

NOVEMBER 2017 – AUGUST 2018 

  • Development of the Study Plan: CREDITS REQUIRED 15.

SEPTEMBER 2018 

  • 7 September 2018 - delivery of a written progress report to the Tutor, Coordinator and Deputy-Coordinator for admission to the final examination: 
  1. Dissertation Index;
  2. Draft of the dissertation in Italian or English;
  3. abstract - in Italian and English - of 5,000 characters in length.
  • 7 September 2018 - delivery to the Teaching Body of a written summary of the research with an index of the contents of the presentation to be held on 10 September (the document must be printed in triplicate for the day of 10 September and must not exceed two pages in length); 
  • 10 September 2018 - presentation of a research progress report for admission to the final examination (the presentation takes the form of a lecture, in Italian or English, accompanied by a slide-show, before a panel of discussants chosen from the members of the Teaching Body, the Teaching Body itself and all the doctoral students). The presentation may last no longer than 15 minutes and must focus on: topic, structure and objectives of the research, theoretical background and methodological approach, expected results. NB a one-year extension for the final discussion is no longer permitted except in the case of dissertations in co-tutorship, at the request of the foreign partner;
  • 10 September 2018 - updating of personal page and entry of publications on IRIS (NB please note that failure to complete the web page and IRIS will jeopardise admission to the final examination); 
  • 17 September 2018 (final deadline) - the Teaching Body approves  for the passage of year (enclosing the evaluation of the tutor with the 2017-2018 training plan and, if necessary, that of other internal or external evaluators); approves admission to the final examination (enclosing the evaluation of the tutor and, if necessary, that of other internal or external evaluators); appoints two external evaluators for each dissertation under discussion and two substitute evaluators; appoints one or more Commissions for the final examination and their alternates; sets two discussion dates, one in the period between 15/03/2019 and 15/04/2019 (for those admitted to the discussion) and one in the period between 15/10/2019 and 15/11/2019 (in the event of postponement of the discussion). OCTOBER 2018 

  • 01 October 2018 - registration with application for admission to the final examination at the PhD Unit (on pain of exclusion from the final examination); 
  • 31 October 2018, h. 14.00 - submission of dissertation validated by supervisor on PhD Thesis Review (on pain of exclusion from the final examination). The title of the dissertation as indicated at the time of submission cannot be subsequently modified. 

 

DECEMBER 2018 

  • 15 December 2018 - delivery of the Study Plans to the Tutor and the three-year Coordinator in an updated form - i.e. indicating activities actually undertaken;
  • 15 December 2018 - the reviewers express a written evaluation of the dissertation, based on the format approved by the Academic Bodies, and propose the doctoral candidate's admission to discussion or postponement for a maximum of 6 months; 
  • 16 December 2018 - PhD students and the Co-ordinator can consult the evaluators' reviews on PhD Thesis Review. 

 

FEBRUARY 2019 

  • 15 February 2019 h. 14.00 - PhD students admitted to discussion shall: deposit their thesis in digital format on AMS Tesi di Dottorato (on pain of exclusion), transmit the declaration to udottriceca@unibo.it together with a copy of their identity document, acquire the ORCID code (even in the absence of scientific production), enter their scientific production in the IRIS catalogue and transmit the final version of the dissertation to the Commissioners, together with the reviewers' evaluation and the report on the activities undertaken and on any publications. 

 

MARCH-APRIL 2019 

  • 15 March - 15 April 2019 - final discussion. 

 

JUNE 2019 

  • 17 June 2019 h. 14.00 - only for PhD students for whom the evaluators have elected to postpone the public discussion: submission of the dissertation duly revised based on indications provided by the evaluators and validated by the Supervisor on PhD Thesis Review (on pain of exclusion from the final examination). 

 

JULY 2019 

  • 31 July 2019 - the reviewers express a written evaluation of the dissertation, taking into consideration any corrections or additions made; the dissertation is in any case admitted for public discussion on PhD Thesis Review. 

 

AUGUST 2019 

  • 1 August 2019 - PhD students and the Co-ordinator will be able to consult the new evaluations expressed by the reviewers on PhD Thesis Review. 

 

SEPTEMBER 2019 

  • 30 September 2019 h. 14.00 - filing of the thesis in digital format on AMS Tesi di Dottorato (on pain of exclusion), transmission of the declaration to udottriceca@unibo.it together with a copy of the student’s identity document, acquisition of the ORCID code (even in the absence of scientific production), entry of the student’s own scientific production in the IRIS catalogue and transmission of the final version of the dissertation to the Commissioners, together with the reviewers' evaluation and the report on the activities undertaken and any publications.

 

OCTOBER-NOVEMBER 2019 

  • 15 October - 15 November 2019 - final discussion.
