Current trends and advances in research in bioengineering of human movement: methods and applications - The role of movement analysis for the assessment and monitoring of neuro-motor development: state of the art and future perspectives

The course will be held by dr. Maria Cristina Bisi and is part of the training provided for IBES PhD Students (a.y.2023/2024) within the Bioengineering (BIO) curriculum.

  • Date: 29 MAY 2024  from 10:00 to 15:00

  • Event location: LibM - UOS - Via dell’Università, 50 - Cesena

  • Type: IBES Course

ABSTRACT

The aim of the seminar is to provide an overview of the state of the art and future prospects for the instrument-based quantitative assessment and monitoring of neuro motor development from birth to adolescence. It will provide fundamental basic knowledge of methods for the assessment of milestone motor skills (e.g. independent sitting, posture, gait…) and their maturation, with focus on the several challenges required by the specific field of application. Specific examples for both typical and atypical development will be illustrated, as well as a vision of how such methods can be integrated for a widespread screening and/or in clinical practice in the future.
