The course will be held by prof. Pier Andrea Traverso and is part of the training provided for IBES PhD Students (a.y.2023/2024) within the Electrical Engineering (EE) curriculum.
Date:
Event location: Auletta DEI - Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering "Guglielmo Marconi" DEI - Viale Risorgimento, 2 - Bologna - In presence and online event
Type: IBES Course
ABSTRACT
The Course focuses on the architectures, models and techniques devoted to the monitoring of battery cells for the characterization of the time evolution of cell state parameters, and the early detection of possible critical events/mis-operation. The discussion will address both laboratory-oriented (off-line) methodologies and in-situ, in-operando (on-line) techniques, which implement the sensing procedures where and when the cell is under the operating conditions imposed by the application (e.g., automotive, industrial robots, UAVs, etc.). Particular emphasys is given to the importance of on-line monitoring&diagnostics for the improvement of cell QRL (Quality, Reliability and Life), and for the viability of cell second-life usage strategies, both aspects being fundamental towards the transition to climate-neutral economic and social development.
