The educational objectives of the semiotics curriculum aim to provide expertise in the field of semiotics, structured both from a theoretical-philosophical and a methodological-applied perspective.
On the theoretical level, the program will explore topics related to the evolution of philosophical and linguistic theories of the sign and semiosis, elements of the history of semiotics, and comparisons between different sign systems—including linguistic, visual, and syncretic systems, among others.
On the applied level, students will acquire the methodological tools necessary for the analysis of various textual objects, such as verbal, visual, behavioral, musical, and audiovisual texts. To this end, the curriculum will cover the main theoretical and methodological approaches within the semiotic tradition, from structuralism to interpretative semiotics.
