The employment opportunities of the PhD students concern first of all the possibility of continuing research activity both in universities and in other national and international scientific structures; teaching in middle and high school; use in archives, libraries, museums; collaboration on research projects promoted by private and public foundations; the possibility of employment in private companies in the sectors of communication, corporate cultural policy and human resources management; use in the public and private sector in relation to the management, documentation and research of the archaeological heritage, in particular through excavations, reconnaissance, filing of materials linked to projects promoted by the Universities or supervised or under concession by the Superintendencies.
Based on the monitoring of the employment and professional opportunities of research doctors who have completed cycles 33, 34 and 35, 94% of doctoral students found employment within 7 months of obtaining the qualification through research grants or scholarships in the fields topics of the doctoral course or has obtained fixed-term or permanent contracts in the public administration (schools and archaeological superintendencies). On average, PhDs rated the usefulness of the doctoral path very positively in terms of the employment opportunities achieved and the level of internationalization of their careers.
