2.      Where is the Call for Applications published?

You will find all the information on the application on the PhD Programmes Page of the University of Bologna.

No, not necessarily. To participate in the selection, you need to speak English and one of the languages of the PhD program (Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Russian).  Once you enroll, however, we would suggest that you pick up some Italian, which you will need for administrative procedures and to follow some of the classes.

5.      Should I get in contact with a potential supervisor before submitting my application?

No, you do not necessarily have to get in contact with a professor from the teaching board who could be a potential supervisor for your thesis. However, it might be a good idea to look at the list of professors and see their lines of research, for you to have an idea of their areas of expertise and competence.

The competitive selection procedure involves an evaluation of the candidate’s project proposal, presented with the application, and, subsequently, and interview.
