  • Type: ET-IT Course

ABSTRACT

Wireless technology is expected to become a fundamental enabler to improve the efficiency, safety, and revenues of advanced manufacturing processes as well as to realize new paradigms such as digital twins. The extremely challenging industrial scenario has some requirements that cannot be fulfilled by the current technologies and may require technological shifts, as the adoption of the so far unexplored THz band.
The purpose of this seminar is to provide some insight about the Internet of Things with, particular reference to Industrial Internet-of-things (IIoT) and to analyse the applicability of 5G to some specific use cases. The seminar will, then, focus on the design of MAC protocols for THz communications when considering IIoT scenario. The latter will be detailed after providing some basics on random access protocols.
