The course is being accredited. Therefore, all information below refers to the last active cycle.

Course belonging to Doctoral Schools that simultaneously provide thematic areas related to complex problems characterized by strong multidisciplinarity

The PhD programme in Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences is included among the activities of the School of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Bologna, which can coordinate the activities related to the Third Cycle proposed by the relevant Departments (Unibo Operating Regulations, art. 3, par. 4). In compliance with the specificities of the various disciplinary areas, the School of Medicine and Surgery promotes, organizes and manages all the activities aimed to create training courses related to complex problems characterized by strong multidisciplinarity in the biomedical field, with the ultimate goal of leading to significant improvements in both basic research and medical applications. The result of the integration of these areas are strongly multidisciplinary research projects, in emerging areas such as neuroscience, applied biomedical sciences and personalized medicine.

Presence of a central theme that coherently aggregates different disciplines and methodologies, also with reference to the ERC areas

In the context of the PhD programme in Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences there is particular attention to the development of interdisciplinary approaches, from preclinical to clinical sciences as well as intersectoral, including, alongside the skills of the academic sector, those of the productive sector. In particular, the research themes of the PhD programme have been modulated through various actions, favoring the aggregation of areas of interest (SSD) from different disciplines, and the activation, from the 35th cycle, of a new research topic, called "Personalized Medicine". This topic represents a central theme capable of combining different preclinical and clinical aspects of the biomedical area, consistently with the aggregation of different disciplines and methodologies, also with reference to disciplinary areas that fall within the areas of the ERC Domain "LS-Life Sciences", including different ERC sectors, ranging within the areas between LS1 and LS7.
