  • Type: Seminar

This seminar focuses on some subject-specific parameters – the contact points – that seem important to take into account for modelling the knee and predicting reliable contact forces. The estimation of the contact forces is sensitive to the location of the contact points in the medial and lateral compartments of the knee. The location of the contact points is typically altered in case of pathology like osteoarthritis and restored with total knee arthroplasty. Inter-subject variability can be observed in both conditions. The location of the contact points additionally allows for the estimation of the joint slip velocity, which is an indication of the risk of wear.
