42° cycle - a.y. 2026/27

Students of the 42° cycle (a.y. 2026/2027) are required to take courses for a total of 180 hours during the first year and 180 during the second year of the program.

Students of the 42° cycle  are required to attend and take exams of the following mandatory courses and select elective courses from other programs.

  • Consumption and Investment theory  - Macroeconomics 1 (LMEC - 30 hours - 6 credits) by Laura Bottazzi
  • Game Theory - Microeconomics 2 (LMEC - 30 hours - 6 credits) by Andrea Mattozzi
  • Macroeconomics 2 (PhD Eco - 30 hours - 6 credits) by Matteo Cervellati
  • Applied Economics - Econometrics 2 (PhD Eco - 20 hours - 4 credits) by Nicola Mastrorocco

Important note: A grade of no less than 27/30 in all exams is required in order to progress to the second year. Only one retake of each exam is allowed, and it must be taken by the end of July.

 * Students can choose which course they prefer to attend. Students who choose Labor Economics - Econometrics 3 must select 125 hours of elective courses from other programs. Students who choose Macroeconometrics - Econometrics 3 must select 110 hours of elective courses.

 Important note: In the second year, students need to maintain an average grade of 27/30, considering all courses, both compulsory and electives.

 Students wishing to waive out of any of the mandatory courses must submit a waiver request to the PhD director. The waiver request must include a transcript of the relative grades and a syllabus from the prior course(s) taken, that proves previous coverage of at least 90% of the material. As a general rule, students asking for a waiver will be asked to pass a preliminary exam, unless the PhD director and the professor who teaches the course agree that -- based on the information provided -- the student can be granted an exemption
