Lezione organizzata nell'ambito del seminario "Metodologie della ricerca", a cura di Koreen Reece (Universität Bayreuth)
Data: 27 MAGGIO 2026 dalle 10:00 alle 13:00
Luogo: Aula Gualandi (S. Giovanni in Monte, 2)
Tipo: Seminario Metodologie
Since the Writing Culture turn, ‘writing has emerged as central to what anthropologists do’ (Clifford and Marcus 1986: 2). And yet, students of anthropology (and other social sciences) are seldom trained to write, and have few opportunities to develop writing as a craft.
This seminar will address that gap. Students will be guided through practical exercises designed to improve their writing skills and evoke their writing voice. We will explore how good reading helps generate good writing, will experiment with writing about people, and will work on moving from telling the story of lived experience to argument and theory. Students will also have opportunities to discuss and develop creative solutions to the barriers, blockages and hangups that writing can bring.
The seminar will be held in English. Students from any social science discipline are welcome to attend. Please bring a 1-2 page text based on your own research material to work with in class.
