Research Methodology

A.A. 2024/2025

The seminar will delve into various methods of historical, political, and social sciences, with particular focus on archival research, bibliographic research, qualitative research, and ethnographic research. A critical approach to the principles and rules underpinning social research and scientific production will be prioritised. Attention will also be given to the transformations brought about by the Internet and digital technologies in social research. Additionally, ethical issues related to data collection will be addressed, with specific reference to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Teaching methods and assessment:
The seminar is worth 3 Doctoral Credits and consists of 5 sessions of 3 hours each. A reading list related to the topics of each session will be provided in advance, and the sessions will adopt a participatory approach. To earn the 3 Doctoral Credits, participants are required to submit a paper (2,000–3,000 words) in which they integrate the seminar topics with additional bibliographic sources and relate them to their individual research projects.
