The PhD program in Surgical Sciences and Innovative Technologies represents the third level of university education and aims to train professionals with integrated skills in basic, translational, and clinical biomedical research.
The title of PhD in Surgical Sciences and Innovative Technologies certifies a solid preparation and mastery of innovative techniques and methodologies related to the student’s chosen field and intrinsic to their three-year project. It also attests to their ability to independently and critically design and conduct basic, translational, and/or clinical biomedical research.

TThe research activity is primarily carried out within the facilities of the research branches of the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences at the University of Bologna, located at Via Giuseppe Massarenti 9, Bologna.
Most of the other associated research facilities and laboratories of the University of Bologna (Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology, Physiology, Anatomy, etc.) are located in close proximity to the hospital area, enabling highly convenient and effective networking and collaboration activities.
