Final ranking list is available online

Final ranking list is now available on the University website (please, check the section “NOTICE” at the bottom of the page). 

Successful applicants will be admitted to the PhD Programme in line with the ranking list, without prejudice to the specific procedures for the awarding of the reserved positions covered by art. 9 of the present Call for applications.

Successful applicants must complete the enrolment procedure on Studenti Online by July 27th, 2020.

Applicants awarded of positions linked to specific research topics (for which the agreement with the external financing body has already been completed, if necessary) shall not been taken into consideration for the awarding of other PhD positions (not linked to specific research topics).

Successful applicants who do not complete the enrolment procedure within the deadline indicated in the University website will be considered having refused their PhD position tacitly.

Following successful applicants’ withdrawal, whether explicit or tacit, replacements will be made in line with the final ranking list up to the 31/10/2020.

The official call for applications is online with a deadline on 21st May and admission tests in June.

For the 36th cycle (2020-2023), by now the following 22 Ph.D. positions are available:

12 Ph.D. positions for research projects in any field of Agricultural and Food Sciences with scholarship funded by the University of Bologna and DISTAL (see research topics)

4 Ph.D. positions with scholarship linked to the topic "Water-Food-Energy-Sustainable agriculture Nexus" funded by the DISTAL in the frameworrk of the “Departments of Excellence” initiative (n=3) and by the University of Bologna general budget under the “Progetti di Sviluppo Strategico dei Dipartimenti (PSSD)” initiative (n=1)

To be eligible, the applicant must possess a MSc degree (or equivalent) or, otherwise, he/she can be admitted to the evaluation procedure but it is mandatory to obtain it no later than October 31, 2020.

Each scholarship amounts to approx. € 15,343.28 gross per year (€ 13,500.00 net) and is paid on a monthly basis. The amount of the grant is increased by 30% during visits abroad of no less than 1 month and no more than 18 months. The full-time scholarships will be assigned to the best applicants on a competitive basis.

The University of Bologna offered 47 PhD programme degrees (37 in English) in AY 2018/19, covering all thematic areas.
There were 1,423 registered PhD students in AY 2018/2019, including 96% with a scholarship or equivalent funding, of which more than 1/3rd funded by public bodies and private companies. 
During AY 2018/2019, 242 PhD students were foreign citizens.
A total of 83 co-tutorship agreements were signed with foreign Universities between January 2018 and March 2019. 
Five years on, 92.7% of PhD graduates have found employment.
