The Marco Polo is a programme funded by Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences for providing financial support for young researchers working at DISTAL in order to spend a period toward foreign research centers. The Council of the DISTAL decided that Ph.D. students in STAAA have high priority in access the Marco Polo budget.

PhD candidates are also eligible for Erasmus+ studio and internship.
Erasmus+ studio: The call for Erasmus+ studio is usually opening in January and closing in February. With Erasmus+ studio is possible to spend abroad a period ranging from 3 to 12 months. Please note that not all the agreements are opened for PhD candidates so it will be important to check each agreement individually.
Erasmus+ traineeship: Within the Erasmus + Mobility for traineeship scheme a.y. 2024/25, a call is issued for applications to do from two to six months paid traineeships in European Union countries.
Please note that Erasmus+ internship is open to PhD candidates with no restrictions. This programme is not based on the agreements sign by the Department but it depends on specific agreements signed with companies or other institutions where the internship will be performed. PhD candidates are welcome to identify companies or institutions where they might perform the internship.

There are available mobility programmes for PhD students between Italy and Germany. A special programme is now available for research period to be conducted in Germany (duration: 1-6 months; scholarship: 861-1,200 euros/month).
