Where do STAAA PhDs work?

On average 30 PhDs graduate.  Where do they work afterwards?

Employment rate

  • 97% of the STAAA PhDs have succeeded in finding a job 3 years after having finished their PhD (88% after 1 years).

Where do they work

  • STAAA PhDs mostly work in Italy (82%) and in both universities (59%) and private companies (38%).
  • For those employed, the contracts are mostly permanent (in 46% of cases)
  • 86% consider the PhD essential or useful for their work

Salaries in Companies

  • Compared to the salaries of University of Bologna Master’s graduates a year after graduation, the PhDs earn on average 35%.

YOUTH IN ACTION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS - EDITION 2020

The Youth in Action for SDGs competition, now in its third edition, is promoted by the Fondazione Italiana Accenture, Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation and Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation and aims to reward the best ideas aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

MARIE SKŁODOWSKA-CURIE ACTIONS

Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) is a prestigious funding scheme by the European Commission to finance postdoctoral research projects. Researchers from any country of origin are eligible and there is no age limit. You can find more information on the MSCA fellowship here

ROULLIER INNOVATION AWARDS

An international contest in Plant & Animal Nutrition rewarding the two best projects with a €75,000 grant each and with a one-year research contract which could be the starting point for a long-term collaboration with the CMI Roullier (France).

ENI AWARD 2020 - YOUNG RESEARCHER OF THE YEAR PRIZE

The Prizes are awarded to two Ph.D. research theses addressing the following topics: action against water, air and land pollution, prevention of climate warming and pollution, rehabilitation and reuse of industrial sites; renewable energy and energy storage; production, transport and use of natural gas; of capture, utilization and sequestration of carbon dioxide as well as of energy efficiency. The theses must have been defended at an Italian University during the same year of the annual Official Announcement, or in the precedent year. The Prize is awarded to students born in or after the year 1987.

EMILIA-ROMAGNA REGION - PRIZE "Giordana Masetti" FOR BEST DOCTORAL THESIS 

The Prizes are awarded to the best Ph.D. research thesis addressing the following topic: "Biological risks on a global scale: the assessment of food risk and the new challenges for health protection. Insights on issues such as vector-transmitted zoonoses, microorganisms deliberately introduced into the food chain and resistance to antimicrobials". The thesis must have been defended at an Emilia-Romagna University and the prize is awarded to PhD under 30 years old.
